About the Artist | Serge Strosberg

A fresh perspective on Palm Beach

Serge Strosberg brings a portrait painter’s eye to Palm Beach’s history, personalities, and unmistakable sense of style. Through Reimagining Palm Beach and Monkeying Around Palm Beach, he connects the past with the present, inviting viewers to discover familiar stories through a contemporary, sometimes mischievous lens.

Belgian roots. Paris training. A Palm Beach perspective.

Born in Antwerp, Belgium, Strosberg studied graphic design at the Académie Julian in Paris and morphology at the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts. In Paris, he began painting portraits of friends and neighbors and developed his practice in oil and egg tempera. That foundation in traditional portraiture continues to inform his work today.

Reimagining Palm Beach

What happens when the people who shaped Palm Beach are seen anew? Strosberg’s portraits revisit figures such as Henry Flagler and Addison Mizner, bringing a contemporary sensibility to the region’s history. Rather than leaving these personalities in the archive, the series invites a fresh encounter with their presence and character.

Monkeying Around Palm Beach

Addison Mizner’s pet monkey, Johnnie Brown, became the starting point for a playful extension of this exploration. In Monkeying Around Palm Beach, portraiture meets imagination: Johnnie Brown takes on the dress, settings, and social spirit of Palm Beach. The result pairs historical inspiration with wit, giving collectors another way to connect with the island’s stories.
